Genetically Modified Mosquitoes???? What else is going to happen?

Mosquitoes are some of the most deadly creatures on the Earth. They carry viruses,bacteria and parasites,which they transmit through bites,infecting millions of people.

 Currently,control of the diseases such as Zika virus and Dengue virus is mostly limited to broad - based insecticide sprays,which can harm both humans and non - target animals and insects. What if there's a way to control these devastating diseases without the environmental problems of widespread insecticide use?

 GM mosquitoes to prevent diseases may sound like science fiction,but the technology had advanced recently to such an extent that there is no longer a scenario related to late - night movies. Today,GM mosquitoes,developed during the past several decades of extensive research in various famous universities,are being used to combat mosquito - borne pathogens,including viruses such as Dengue and Zika,in many places around the world. Progress is also being made to use GM mosquitoes to combat malaria,the most devastating mosquito - borne disease. 

 This use of GM mosquitoes is going from theoretical,to getting used in the field. Older techniques that were inefficient,random and slow pave the way for new methods like CRISPR,which enables efficient,rapid and precise editing of mosquito genomes and ReMOT control which eliminates the requirement for injecting materials into mosquito embryos. 

 Don't worry,these genetic changes just affect the mosquitoes,and not people.

CAN TWO EGGS BE FERTILISED TO FORM A ZYGOTE?

  So, one of my friends asked me this brilliant curious question one day - Instead of a sperm fertilising an egg, can an egg fertilise another egg?
