How to get rid of phobias?

See,vaccines involve needles. Since childhood, many people have needle phobia. Even thinking about them sends those people a spiraling into a private hell inside their mind, while their body gives way to symptoms like heart palpitations and even fainting.
Years of knowing about their extreme reactions had left me wondering: Where do such phobias come from? And could people ever get over them?

Some people are even terrified of doctors, hospitals and medical exams. Some of their fears go hand in hand with their mistrust of medicine and faith in alternative treatments like herbs and reflexology. Some argue countless times for treatments of things like acid reflux,by applying mustard seeds or applying pressure to the bottom of their foot. Though, people have still managed to rebel against these beliefs, the familial fears have been held on tight,so much that I have pondered whether the phobias could actually be genetic. Some researchers also took and analysed samples of a few people's DNA. Ultimately, they found that genes bore about 30% of the responsibility for odontophobia (fear of dentists).
Fears of certain specific situations, like getting trapped in a stuck elevator, are driven more by related past events, not by genetics. Fears of blood, injury and injections,on the other hand, could be driven more by genetics and less by experience. The genetic roots of some phobias run particularly deep. For instance, trypophobia, the fear of clusters of circular objects like coffee bubbles or the holes in a sponge, may stem from an ancient aversion to infectious diseases and parasites. Parents' behaviour during their young kids' vaccination might affect the children's likelihood of developing pre - vaccination fright. For instance, repeating,"It's okay, its okay," may appear to increase the youngsters' distress. The more the parent says that, the more anxious they are,so they're communicating their anxiety by saying it over and over again. Could parental anxieties ever spark phobias in their children?

Some people refuse to undergo life - saving treatments because of their fear of needles. Odontophobics who avoid the dentist for years often end up collecting cavities. Those afraid of flying may miss key business meetings and family gatherings in faraway destinations. That's why overcoming these fears is so important, and it is possible. Exposure therapy, where patients confront their triggers gradually, tends to yield good results. It is also effective against the fear of elevators. Virtual reality scenarios that mimick various elevations might help alleviate people's fear of heights. Cardio exercise before a dental procedure may help reduce their anxiety.
So,when you go for a blood test, after reluctantly being dragged to the doctor's clinic, immediately confess your phobia to the nurse. So,you can probably take up some distractions to let go of your phobia. If you love cats, then probably you can swipe through the photos of your beloved cats on your phone while the nurse might be able to distract you with questions about feline daughters. Keeping your mind off the fear will help your body deal with the situation. While you might not fully defeat your phobia, you will atleast be able to tame it.
